Challenge 7: At least it's not raining

Suddenly the weather has decided that snow is so last season and has launched straight into "sunny and warm". Whilst many might be happy about this, we wiser weather watchers remain concerned that today was our annual one day of summer. Which would be (a) early and (b) bode ill for the rest of the year. Always finding ways to temper our enthusiasm - just in case...!

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to make my regular note that this is not summer. Summer has not arrived, we are not now experiencing summer, and winter has not just suddenly ended. This is spring. It has been spring since March, and will continue to be spring until June begins. It's not hard, but every year, first day of warm summer weather, first it's "oh, summer has finally arrived" and then it's "well, that's it, summer's over already and it's not even May". IT'S SPRING!!

Anyway, did another walk today, which makes 15k this week (learning from President Wotsit and always going for a bigger number) so far! Shall take tomorrow evening off as a rest/recovery day I think, and then return to the slog on Saturday. Fizzing with all the energy that only lovely, healthy salad can give you... *sigh*

:o)

Stats, Thursday 19th April
Walking time/distance: 54 mins, 3.38 miles (and around again...)

Challenge 7: Unexpected issue in the stretching area

Those of you who haven't been taken in by the misleadingly salacious title, and/or who have little real interest in, well, sofas - went for a walk today, same as Monday, nothing else to see here.

Those of you who are still reading... So earlier this year I moved my sitting room around. This means that both my sofas now have their backs against the walls. Ordinarily not a big deal, and everyone who had visited and seen the new layout (and felt obliged to comment on it) has approved.

But... When I used to do my post-exercise stretches (hey, a 5k walk counts as exercise!) I used to lean on the back of one of the sofas for support: it was the right height and nicely sturdy (always something to bear in mind). Now...? Now I find myself flailing around in the middle of the room trying to retain my balance, do my stretches, and avoid the circling furniture. It's a bit like how I experience Body Balance or Yoga - but without the yoga mats, or the crowd of interested bystanders.

I'm not entirely sure how I'll resolve this: change rooms for the stretching; spend some time wandering the house looking for a new support; cease all exercise until the issue is resolved?! Tune in tomorrow to find out...

:o)

Challenge 7: Yo ho ho and a bottle of run

Soooooo.... Nearly exactly 2 years on from the last post (!) - how've you been? Or, more importantly, how've I been??!

Well, it turns out that if you do no exercise for 2.5 years, and generally just loll about reminding everyone that you ran a marathon once whilst eating every cake that walks past and quaffing rum and cokes as often as possible... It turns out that you put back on all the weight that you originally lost! All of it! Every last pound! I really feel that someone should have mentioned this possibility sooner...

And so here we are again. Another year. Another Challenge looming before me - literally, as the theme is bridges this time - and some more lengthy posts complaining at length how awful running is. Ah, happy days are here again!

So this week is "prep". Which mostly means I don't have to try to even jo-walk, just do some regular exercise and eat well. Which means that I have gone for one walk and eaten 2 (2!) salads so far this week. My cup of joy is very nearly filled to over-flowing and it's only Tuesday. *sigh*

Onward!

Stats, Monday 16th April
Walking time/distance: 55 mins, 3.45 miles (there were hills, it was hard, honest!)
